Berlin GOLD for El Prado

Berlin Wine Trophy 2011

Our El Prado Monastrell Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009 vintage, won the "Berlin Gold" at this year's Berlin Wine Trophy. This competition has been taking place each year since 2002, and has been organised under the patronage of the OIV since 2004. The importance of the Berlin Wine Trophy has massively increased in recent years, and in 2009 it was one of the top 5 international wine competitions in the world.

Silver for El Prado

Mundus Vini 2010

El Prado, Monastrell-Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009 vintage, wins the "Mundus Vini" Silver. The international wine prize from the "Mundus Vini" wine academy is currently one of the most renowned wine competitions in the world. Each year, 180 select international wine professionals sample over 5,300 wines from across the world at 180 Weinstraße in Neustadt.

Classic, bold and full-bodied

This red wine for discerning connoisseurs precedes the wedding of the traditional Spanish grape variety Monastrell with the French variety Cabernet Sauvignon. Just like its home Valencia, "the strong one", El Prado also embodies Mediterranean character and tradition. A fine woody note perfectly rounds off the rich and harmonious El Prado Monastrell Cabernet Sauvignon.

From paella to tapas

The Spanish are a nation of connoisseurs, with lots of regional cuisines, which provide evidence of Roman and Moorish influences from bygone eras with quite different specialities. With the exception of the famous paella, which is traditionally prepared for the entire family in a large metal pan, and is enjoyed throughout Spain, in the most wide-ranging varieties. Be they paellas with seafood, meat or vegetarian paella; all of the versions are colourful, smell of the sun and the sea, and represent mini culinary works of art.

The second most popular Spanish dish is tapas. Small delectable appetisers, which are enjoyed between or before mealtimes, ideally in a traditional tapas bar with a delicious wine. There are lbóndigas (meatballs), Boquerones en Vinagre (sardines marinated in vinegar), Carne en Salsa (meat pieces in a sauce), Ciruelas (baked plums wrapped in bacon), Gambas al ajillo (prawns fried in olive oil with chilli and garlic) Puntillitas fritas (fried mini calamari), Jamón Serrano (Serrano ham) and lots, lots more.
